SALE ALERT: Schuh

Schuh Sale

There's some amazing stuff in the sale at Schuh at the moment. Some are still a little out of my price range but definitely ones to keep an eye on incase they get reduced further.
My favourites have to be the patent white creepers with the chain - they remind me of 90s school shoes & the Lazy Oaf Kickers that I just couldn't justify spending £110 on, but now they're less than half price, I might treat myself next pay day!

There's a lot more from Red or Dead & Dr Martens and lots of Jeffrey Campbell shoes in the sale at Office so go check that out too!

Hat - ASOS, earrings - Forever 21, blazer & dress - gifts, shoes - Dr Martens

So, I've kept quiet about it for a while 'cause I wanted to see how things went, but I had an interview a couple of weeks ago at Forever 21 for Visual Merchandiser! I've been working there as sales associate since last November and after finishing the Fashion Retail course I was on, I've been looking for a VM position but didn't want to leave the company, so this was a perfect opportunity.

I start my training soon and I'm so excited about joining the team. I've just got to make it through my probation period, so fingers crossed!

Dress - hand me down from my Mum, boots - Office

I miss my blue hair & I'm not wearing any make up cause I feel like poop but my new style muse is Mathilda from Léon <3 (extended post on this soon).

Sorry for the lack of posts recently! Between work & not having a lot of money, I haven't been going out very much so I've spent a lot of time watching Breaking Bad (!!!), sleeping, salvaging furniture & baking cakes.

Poop cakes

110g/4oz butter or margarine, softened at room temperature
110g/4oz caster sugar
2 free-range eggs, lightly beaten
110g/4oz self-raising flour
1-2 tbsp milk
Ferrero Rocher chopped/crushed
8 squares of Galaxy (or whatever) chopped
2 tbsp Nutella

For the buttercream:
Icing Sugar
Butter
Water
Nutella

✿ Preheat oven to gas mark 4/180°C & line a baking tray with paper cases.

✿ Cream together butter & sugar, beat in the eggs & mix in the Nutella.

✿ Fold in the flour and add the milk. Mix until everything is mixed and at a soft consistency, kinda like slightly melted ice cream.

✿ Spoon the mixture in to the cases filling them about half way.

✿ Bake for 8-10 minutes (poke with a skewer to check if they're done - if they are it should come out clean)

✿ Once the cakes are done, leave them to cool.

✿ To make the buttercream we mixed icing sugar and butter as per the box instructions with a little water and then mixed in a couple of spoonfuls of Nutella.

✿ Spoon the buttercream in to a sandwich bag and snip off the corner to make a DIY icing bag then starting from the outside, pipe on to the top of the cakes in a spiral, finishing in the middle with a little peak.

I made these for my Mum's Birthday and I hadn't planned for them to come out how they did, but luckily she has the same sense of humour I do and they were totally yummy too, so she loved them anyway. Recipe adapted from this one I found on the BBC site here.

Heres a little summary of my month in Instagram photos:

Forever commuting, best cider <3, cute little seaside trip

EVENT: Rochester Flea

Last weekend I went along to the Rochester Flea market at the Gordon Hotel. There used to be a regular flea market under an old car wash in Rochester which stopped running a  good 10 years ago, before I really gained my love for rifling through old treasures, so I was really excited to hear something new had been organised.

The first of a monthly event saw a beautiful collection of artists, vintage clothing, home ware, records and bric-a-brac. There was even a little retro gaming area courtesy of CoFWD and a food stall run by the most amazing lady who was singing to try and entice people to buy chips and reminded me so much of my Grandma.

I didn't have a lot of money to spend but bought a couple of things and also had a good look around the charity shops too.

You can see a list of all the artists and stallholders here
